Eunice Rooks
MRS. EUNICE MAE CLEMENTS ROOKS – transitioned into eternity on Friday, July 29, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the age of 102.
She was born to the late James Alexander Clements and Cora O’Neal Clements on November 12, 1919, in Naomi, Georgia. She was married to the late Leon William Rooks. Her life has been one of love, service, and commitment to the family, friends, and community. Mrs. Rooks was a gifted educator for more than fifty years in Walker County, Georgia and the Chattanooga Public Schools. Mrs. Rooks joined the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church in 1960 where she was very active in several ministries, including the Beautifying Guild and the Mother Board. She was the co-founder and a member of the Avondale Ladies Guild for sixty years. For more than fifty years, she was actively engaged with Good Neighbors Inc. and the NAACP. She was treasured by her soros of Sigma Gamma Rho.
She is survived by her three children: Carolyn Louise Rooks (Stonecrest, GA), Leon Wayne Rooks, and Dale Delores Rooks (both of Chattanooga, TN) and sister-in-law, Joanna Davis (Waycross, GA), nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In Recognition of the lingering Covid 19 concern, a private family service will be held with Rev. Robert Rice, eulogist. However, the family service will be streamed Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 1:00 P. M. Further details for the streaming can be obtained through the Willis Funeral Home website. Mrs. Rooks will lie in repose at Willis Funeral Home, Dalton, Georgia on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 P. M. In addition, beloved friends and associates are invited and encouraged to join the family at the interment at Lakewood Memory Garden, Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:30 A. M. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
