Smith is a three-star prospect rated as the nation’s No. 42 cornerback by 247Sports.com. As a Salmon senior, Smith tallied 35 receptions for 628 yards and nine touchdowns, 29 tackles, three intercepti­ons and a forced fumble, and he also had three touchdowns on special-teams returns.

ILB JAYLEN MOODY

6-2, 225, Conway, S.C. (Conway)

Moody is among the Crimson Tide’s lowest-rated signees, with 247Sports ranking him the No. 49 middle linebacker nationally and the No. 1,206 prospect overall. He did have scholarshi­p offers from Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee and will help a position that must fill the departures of Rashaan Evans and Shaun Dion Hamilton.

DB PATRICK SURTAIN JR.

6-2, 199, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (American Heritage) The nation’s No. 1 cornerback and No. 6 overall prospect, according to 247Sports, Surtain announced Wednesday that he was signing with the Crimson Tide after favoring LSU for much of the recruiting process and taking recent trips to Clemson and Miami. He had 16 tackles and an intercepti­on as a senior.

WR JAYLEN WADDLE

5-10, 175, Bellaire, Texas (Episcopal)

Waddle gave the Crimson Tide a late boost Wednesday afternoon with his signature, with coach Nick Saban actually pausing during his news conference to make sure the player’s paperwork had arrived before he could comment. The nation’s No. 5 receiver and No. 39 prospect overall was pursued heavily by both Texas and Texas A&M.
