Coach Dick Bessette had four starters in double figures as defending Class B champion Sacred Heart Academy romped to a 77-41 victory over Cumberland. Joe Dupras paced the Beavers with 20 points, followed by Dick Rouleau with 16, Dick Bizier 12 and Al Froment 11. Joe Truszkowsk­i and John McVeigh hooped 11 points each for the Clippers. SHA is now 7-2 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Cumberland dropped to 2-6 for the campaign and 0-2 in Class B.

1973

Tom Tinkham, Ken Knapp and Bob Matuszek combined for 55 points to pace Central Falls to its fourth straight victory and move the Warriors into a tie for second place in the Suburban Division III race with a 74-65 triumph over previously unbeaten North Smithfield. Tinkham took scoring honors with 20 points, Knapp swished 18 and Matuszek caged 17, while Ron Menard chipped in with 12 points for CF. Marty Healey led the Northmen with 19 points, Dick Bonte canned 18 and Tim Healey added 14.

1983

Shea’s leading scorer, Laurie Bailey, poured in 22

points and Patti Shea popped in 17 to pace the offense as the Raiders walked past Central Falls 64-36 in Class B Met action. In a Class A North tilt, Chris Engert drilled 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Cumberland to a 58-21 rout over Cranston West to improve to 7-1 in league play and 10-2 overall. Martha Lynch netted 12 points, Kathy Pinto stole the ball six times, Roxanne LaBrosse handed out six assists and Cyndi Cherubino grabbed seven caroms in support of Engert.
