1966 Slater Junior High posted four victories in as many games

with Goff second and Jenks third to win the annual Pawtucket Girls’ Volleyball Play Day. The Slater team was comprised of Patricia Lopes, Judy Morrison, Linda Bailey, Kathy Fenneran, Donna Dixon, Barbara Williams, Patricia Filleau, Margarita Ryszkiewic­z and Christine Stanford.

1986 Shea received big running games from Wally Merhi

and Larry Rush and some timely passing from QB John LaRose to roll to a 26-6 Class B-2 triumph against winless South Kingstown. Rush gained 133 yards in 14 carries including touchdown jaunts of three, 80 and four yards, Merhi rushed for 105 yards in 13 attempts and LaRose completed nine of 17 passes for 90 yards along with a scoring strike of 10 yards to his favorite receiver, Jim Richard, who had four receptions for 32 yards. LaRose added a two-point conversion toss to Angelo Rodrigues and Rush completed the Raiders’ scoring with a PAT dash.

1996 Manny DaSilva and Jose Docen combined for 206 yards

rushing and two touchdowns as Central Falls regrouped from last week’s 6-0 loss and put it all together with a 30-6 Division 4 romp over Exeter-West Greenwich. DaSilva gained 116 yards on seven carries and scored on a 12-yard dash, while Docen chipped in with 90 more yards on eight attempts and tallied on a 39-yard scamper. Warriors who also found the end zone were Carlos DaSilva on a 24-yard gallop and Tony Paiva on a four-yard run.
