North Smithfield man arrested on drug charges
NORTH SMITHFIELD — A local man was arrested on Thursday on charges of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, cocaine, and prescription medication, after a search at his Cynthia Drive home allegedly turned up various drugs, local and state police announced.
Jason Lenox, 32, of 18 Cynthia Drive in North Smithfield, was arrested following an investigation by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and North Smithfield Police. The investigation centered around the distribution of fentanyl, cocaine, and prescription medications, police said.
Lenox was arrested Thursday after a court-authorized search warrant was executed at his home, during which HIDTA Task Force members allegedly seized 12.4 grams of cocaine; four grams of fentanyl; 55 Clonazepam pills; seven Adderall pills; eight grams of methadone powder; four vials of suspected steroids; and cutting agents, scales, and other items used for narcotics distribution, State Police said.
Lenox was charged with possession with intent to deliver and manufacture fentanyl, possession with intent to deliver and manufacture cocaine, possession with intent to deliver and manufacture Clonazepam, possession of controlled substance schedule I-III (Adderall), and possession of controlled substance schedule I-III (methadone).
Lenox was held for arraignment in Sixth District Court, where he’ll also be presented as a probation violator from a previous narcotics-related charge in 2017, State Police said.
