Lucille M. Carolo

UXBRIDGE – Lucille M. ( Ayotte) Carolo, 74, of Uxbridge, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, peacefully at home.

She was happily married to her husband and “special angel” Robert M. Carolo for 57 years, whom she fell in love with as a teenager when he first wowed her with his red convertibl­e car. They went on to raise the loving family that surrounded her throughout life and up until her final moments.

Mrs. Carolo had been the dedicated administra­tive assistant at Golden Pond Assisted Living in Hopkinton for 18 years before reluctantl­y retiring in 2015 to bravely focus on fighting her illness.

Lucille was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Woonsocket, the daughter of the late Lucien and Gertrude ( Latour) Ayotte. She is remembered as having been a sweetly mischievou­s and bright child who achieved easy academic success while also making fun a top priority, a quality that followed her into adulthood.

She enjoyed quality time with her beloved family and friends, relaxing at the ocean, and practicing her faith. She participat­ed in various prayer groups and retreats, and was an active member and Eucharisti­c minister at St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge for the past seven years. She previously lived in Blackstone and was a member of St. Paul’s Church.

Lucille was admired by all who knew her for being very high-energy, fast-moving and always ready for a long and thoughtful chat. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgivi­ng. Her family will forever miss her most delicious turkey dinner, which she executed with effortless talent and perfection.

In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by her daughters, Diane and her husband Lawrence Ethier of Ararat, Va., and Donna and her husband Peter Graves of Lowell, Mass.; a son-in-law, Stephen Benoit of Uxbridge; siblings Roger Ayotte and his wife Joan of Safety Harbor, Fla., Dorothy Archambaul­t and her husband Edward of The Villages, Fla., Richard Ayotte and his wife Celine of Woonsocket, Pauline Guernon and her husband Paul of The Villages, Fla., and Gerard Ayotte and his wife Martha of The Villages, Fla. She was “grandma” to seven grandchild­ren, Laura Chadwick and her husband Nate, Zebulin Ethier, Stephanie Benoit, Tyler Graves, Ethan Graves, Elijah Ethier and Trevor Benoit; and she was “great-grammy” to one great-grandchild, Cora Chadwick, whom she enjoyed a treasured 13 months with.

She was predecease­d by her daughter, Linda Benoit, in 2012.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow at St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
