Mr. John Clinton Sheriff, 73, of Knight Road, Red Bud community, departed this life early Monday morning, July 29, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Sheriff was born in Gordon County on March 2, 1946. He was a son of the late John Benjamin Sheriff and Deemie Bridges Sheriff Young. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Annie %HOO :KLW¿HOG -XQH :HOFKHO Neta Hall, and Esther Farace; brothers, J.P Sheriff, Albert Sheriff, Ernest Sheriff, and Eugene Sheriff; half-sisters, Lillie Silvers, Leona Sutherland, Ruth Watkins, and Dena Pye; and half-brothers, Gordon Sheriff and Herman Sheriff.

Seth Alan Talley, 44, of Woodland Terrace, Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, July 29, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Seth was born on December 20, 1974 in Dalton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, James Brannon Talley; his grandparen­ts, Elroy and Omalee Talley, Beatrice and Ray Dooley; and two uncles, Jerry Talley and Bob Dooley.

He was a 1992 graduate of Gordon Central High School in Calhoun, Georgia and attended the George Chambers Resource Center.

Seth is survived by his mother and step-father, Phyllis Talley and Londell Wigley; his sister and brother-in-law, Carmen and Kent Thomas; brother, Bill Talley all of Calhoun, Georgia; step-brothers and their spouses, Lamar Wigley, Jerry and Faith Wigley, Tony and Charlene Wigley; step-sister and her husband, Sherry and Farrell Hines all of Summervill­e, Georgia; niece and nephew, Kailyn Thomas and Keaton Thomas; aunts and uncles, Trammell and Mary Dooley, Etta Dooley, Sharon Angland, Helen Talley, Ray Dooley, Blaine and Donna Talley; a host of additional nieces, nephews and family members also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Seth Talley was held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Charles Smith and his nephHZ .HDWRQ 7KRPDV RI¿FLDWing. Interment will be at Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery. Mike Dooley, Mark Dooley, Mitch Dooley, Michael Angland, Andy Walker, and Jeff “Whitey” Davis all served as pallbearer­s. Marie Chitwood Meadows Worley, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Marie was born on December 10, 1938 in Resaca, GA to the late William “Fiddler” H. Chitwood and Mary Elizabeth Roberts Chitwood. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Dudley Meadows, Sr. and Pearl Roberts Meadows; several brothers and sisters; and a niece and nephews. Marie was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a proud member of the Calhoun High School Class of 1956. She was a longtime member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church.

Marie is survived by: two daughters, Sara Ann Angland and her husband Dale of Calhoun, and Marisa Ann Yancey and her husband Tom of Marietta; three grandchild­ren, Kristin Diana Owens of Kennesaw, Carly Harris and her husband Nathan Weaver of Calhoun, and Craig Harris and his wife Emily of Calhoun; two great-grandchild­ren, Savannah Jordan and Cole Weaver; sister, Jean Arthur; and sister-in-law, Glenese Meadows Thornton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 1st at 4:00 PM at the Calhoun First Baptist Church with both Dr. John Barber DQG 'U %HUW 9DXJKQ RI¿FLDWing. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Richard E. Fouts, age 56 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Richard was born on August 13, 1962 in Fairmount, GA, to Eugene Talmadge Fouts and the late Linda Fay Elrod Fouts. He was a member of Hall Memorial Baptist Church and worked for Mohawk Industry. Richard was a loving son and brother.

Richard is survived by: his father, Gene Fouts and his wife Mary of the Sonoravill­e Community; two brothers, Raymond Fouts and his wife Wilma and Randall Fouts and his wife Betty; sister, Joyce Couch and her husband Billy; two step-sisters, Heather Goforth and Sonja Helmholtz; and a special aunt and uncle, Johnny and Marcell Elrod. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Langston and ReverHQG 6WHYH &RUELQ RI¿FLDWing. Chelsey Grooms, Betty Fouts, Emma Fouts, and Zachary Fuller will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Reverend Greg Burgner in charge of graveside rites.

Pallbearer­s serving are: Terry Holden, Ricky Lang, Donald Bowen, Ronnie Holbrook, Dawson Morgan, and Chuck Ball.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
