Rapper, Farrell will shoot Chastain film ‘Eve’ in city
Brace yourself, Boston: Colin Farrell and Common are both joining the cast of Jessica Chastain’s upcoming action flick, “Eve,” which will soon be shooting in our city.
Voltage Pictures, which is producing the film alongside Chastain’s company Freckle Films, announced the latest casting choices during the Toronto International Film Festival.
We first broke the news that the movie would be filming in Boston this fall, and we now know that principal photography is expected to begin around town on Sept. 24.
We also clued you in that Tate Taylor — known for his work on “The Help,” “Girl on the Train” and “Pretty Ugly People” — would be involved in the project. It’s now official that Taylor will be replacing Matthew Newton as director. Newton, who also wrote the action drama, stepped down last month following a frenzy of criticism. Given Chastain’s vocal support of the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up campaign, fans called for Newton, who pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend in his native Australia back in 2007, to be removed from the movie’s helm.
Chastain — whose recent credits include “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Molly’s Game” and “Miss Sloane” — will be starring in “Eve” as the titular character, a special black ops agent. Farrell, who’s recently made headlines for his new film “Widows” and its use of a racial epithet, will be playing her boss, while rapperturned-actor Common will assume the role of her former fiance.
Nicolas Chartier and Dominic Rustam, as well as Chastain and Kelly Carmichael, her Freckle Films partner, are all attached to “Eve” as producers. Voltage’s Jonathan Deckter is also onboard, serving as an executive producer.
