IT’S HIS DAY!

Fun things to do with dad this weekend

- By HERALD STAFF too

This Father's Day weekend is all about dad, and there are just two rules: no to ties, yes to fun. We've found some great and tasty things to treat him to on his big day, and some fun movies and shows to watch once you get home, for the Best Day Out/Best Night In.

FUN RUN: Enjoy something sporty — but not sporty with pop at the inaugural Hold My Beer Mile tomorrow in Jamaica Plain. It's not about timing; men and women race separately with $100 to the winners of each race. Best of all, you run a mile through parts of Franklin Park, the last bit is downhill and lead race sponsor Turtle Swamp Brewing has a free post-race beer for each registered runner. How great is that? Yes, bring an ID because you have to be 21 to get that brewski, and 18 or older to register. $15$20; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Turtle Swamp Brewing, 3377 Washington St.

THE GRILL OF IT ALL:

Tell dad to put away his “Grill Master” apron. The Liberty's got it covered with its sixth annual Father's Day Cookout. The BBQ party goes down tomorrow from 3 to 8 p.m. — depending on when you like to nosh — in the Yard, its private outdoor courtyard. There will be live music, masterful meats, bourbon cocktail or glass of wine/beer, artisanal side dishes and a hand-rolled cigar. Full package: $65; food only tickets (cash bar available): $40; kids 5-12: $15; libertyhotel.com

GO LONG! Actually, you should probably stay seated during tomorrow's Father's Day brunch starting at 11 a.m. at Ocean Prime Boston. Because while munching on the yum dad-friendly dishes like Braised Short Rib Surf & Turf, a lucky table will be selected at random to receive a signed Patriots-branded football signed by Pats safety Patrick Chung. And they get a No. 1 Dad Patriots T-shirt to boot. Fingers crossed. 140 Seaport Blvd.; ocean-prime. com.

MOVIE TIME! FX presents a Father's Day movie marathon today that ranges from space travel to grand heists. It kicks off with “The Bourne Legacy” at 9 a.m., followed by “Interstellar” at noon, “Kingsman: The Secret Service” at 4 p.m. and “Now You See Me 2” at 7 p.m. Sure, the films don't so much celebrate dads, but they do offer some mindless fun.

BRADY OPENS UP: Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations (tomorrow at 11 a.m. on OWN) welcomes New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for a chat about his career, Deflategate, what he still hopes to accomplish professionally and even the spiritual side of football. Supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen stops by.
