Second suspect held in attack on Hub men
New Orleans police rounded up two of the four suspects they say mugged a pair of Boston men in the French Quarter last weekend and issued arrest warrants for two other suspects in the brutal attack.
Cops yesterday arrested Joshua Simmons, 18, and charged him for the Saturday night robbery in the French Quarter, hours after they announced the arrest of Dejuan Paul, 21.
Simmons appeared in court yesterday and was held without bail, according to court records.
Police also issued arrest warrants for the other two suspects: Nicholas Polgowski, 18, and Rashaad Piper, 20. Both will be charged with second-degree robbery.
The two Boston men, who do computer work for the Unitarian Universalist Association, were in town for the church’s annual General Assembly, which took place from Wednesday to Sunday.
The association identified the victims to New Orleans media as Tim Byrne and James Curran. The men were robbed of their cellphones and wallets.
The Unitarian Association said one of the two Boston men is home and the other remains hospitalized in New Orleans in critical but stable condition.
“He is making small, but important improvements,” the association said in a statement. “For this we are profoundly grateful. We ask you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
Police initially released a brutal video showing the attack in an attempt to find the culprits.
