Heritage Corner

-

In my home I have what I like to think of as my heritage corner. In it are relics from my childhood home that remind me of my heritage. One item was a cut glass flower vase belonging to my grandmother. She gave it to my mother long before I was born and Mother kept roses from her garden in it as long as the roses were in bloom. When mother moved in her later years to San Diego, California, she grew roses and, yes, she put them in her rose vase.

Mother told me on one visit to choose things I wanted after she was gone, and I asked her to give me things she wanted me to have while she was still alive. She gave me the rose vase, and I took it to my house and put it in my memory corner.

Just recently I was asked to choose something I could contribute to one of my nephews as a wedding present that came from his great grandmother. You guessed it, I sent him the rose vase.

The memories of that vase will linger with me as long as I cut roses from my own garden and now find something else to put them in.

But this story brings to my mind the roses in Heaven. Can you imagine the vases or Heaven grown roses on our tables in the places Jesus is preparing for us up there? Can you imagine the work that has been put into those places Jesus is preparing for us.

One of these days Jesus is going to be told by His Father, “You are finished preparing a place for Your Bride. Go get my children and bring them Home.”

Then the clouds of heartache and tears of this old world are going to be rolled back as a scroll. The trump will sound loud enough to wake up the dead. Jesus will step out on the cloud and say at the top of His voice, “Come up here!” and in the twinkling of an eye, we will be changed and in our new Home.

In I Corinthians 15:52 it states: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” And again in Revelation 21:4, it says God shall wipe away all tears from our eyes because the former things are passed away.

I’m ready, having asked Jesus to be my Savior from my sins.

And my question is how about you?
