“Movie: A Thousand and One” (Sept. 19)

This drama film follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old, Terry (Aaron Kingsley Adetola), from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity and stability in a rapidly changing New York City. Aven Courtney, Josiah Cross, William Catlett and Terri Abney also star.

“Bad Axe” (Sept. 18)

This documentary captures a closely knit Asian-american family living in a rural Michigan community as they now fight to keep their American dream alive. As owners of a local prominent restaurant, they reckon with a global pandemic, racial tensions, and generational scars from Cambodia’s “killing fields.”

“The Saint of Second Chances” (Sept. 19)

Mike Veeck grew up in the shadow of his hustler father, Hall of Fame baseball owner Bill Veeck. The Veeck name became both legendary and notorious in professional baseball as they introduced the fun at ballparks — giveaways, theme nights, fireworks, and more. But it all came to a screeching halt when Mike blew up his father’s career. From directors Morgan Neville and Jeff Malmberg, narrated by Jeff Daniels, and featuring Charlie Day as a younger Veeck, this documentary is wildly unexpected, full of heart, and keeps you laughing through a comeback story unlike any other.

“Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of Secret Invasion” (Sept. 20)

Through in-depth interviews with cast and crew, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, Assembled uncovers how Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion” was born. Witness what it took to conjure the world of the show, and spend time with Samuel L. Jackson as he dons the patch once again to engage in the most baffling battle of Nick Fury’s career.
