Planners for the Hawaiian Falls waterpark in Pflugerville announced last week that it was not clear whether the park would be able to open in time for Memorial Day as planned. At the end of 2013, the city of Pflugerville loaned the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. $7 million, which has been paid back, so construction could begin in early December.

LauraWilson Swanson: I think those of us that were early adopters and bought season passes way back last year should get some kind of perk for having the date pushed back and back and back. I mean, they changed it to where we have to pay for parking now, and also to pay for a cooler pass ... Where’s the love?

AshleyWilkins: All such negative comments! ... This water park will generate more tourist attraction just like New Braunfels therefore more money for our city. You have to think about the long term goal people and stop being so closed-minded and shallow! My daughter and I love water parks and pools and like a few others who commented on this status we already have our season passes instead of driving to New Braunfels about 3 times a summer. We are excited and saving me money, time and gas! They are already generating revenue and it hasn’t even opened yet so taxpayers keep calm!

Will Spence: I find it laughable they’re even putting in a “water” park. We fine people for running their sprinklers at the wrong time — yet have enough to fill a water park ... recycle or not, the sun itself will take more water away every single day.

Mike Oliver: What’s their “drought fee”?

Bubba Lopez: Gonna be a nice park ... We attended the prayer service at the park tonight. Nice to have a Christian base company in our community.

Becky Houston Mills: I drive by there everyday. Sometimes, I hardly see anyone working. I do wish them the best in this endeavor. That being said, they have a long way to go. If they were to finish it in two weeks, I wouldn’t think it would be very safe anyway.

Chris Randall: Pflugerville, Texas is building a multi-million dollar water park using Pflugerville TAX DOLLARS ... Pflugerville REFUSES to pay the Austin Community College TAXES so that Pflugerville residents can attend ACC at the “in district” rate.

Travis Richards: Don’t rush! Do it right! We’ve had far too many problems with water park tragedies in Texas.
