Jefferson County Food & Safety Report
The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Here are recent reports:
■ KIBB’S BBQ 2, 1400 S. Blake St. Date of inspection April 25. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Observed hand washing (sink) blocked. A handwashing sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use, and do not use for purposes other than handwashing. Bucket was removed during time of inspection. Observation: Walls and ceiling are soiled in kitchen area. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Observation: Observed trash can with no lid. Trash can needs lid when not in continuous uses. Observation: Observed missing floor tiles that need to be repaired/replaced. Corrective Action: The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair.
■ J-MART STORE, 13800 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection April 25. Observed bags of ice that are packaged in the store not labeled with store information. Food packaged in Retail Food Establishment, shall be labeled as specified in law. Ice machine interior damaged and needs to be repaired. No test strips observed in establishment. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. No hot water available in the restroom. The water source and system shall be of sufficient capacity to meet the peak water demands of the RETAIL FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. Some flooring is damaged in kitchen area. The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Some ceiling tiles throughout the establishment are damaged or missing. The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Observed several pieces of unused equipment in the kitchen area. The PREMISES shall be free of items that are unnecessary to the operation or maintenance of the establishment such as EQUIPMENT that is nonfunctional or no longer used and litter.
■ AVITAJ LLC, 8006 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection April 25. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. The ice machine deflector shield is visibly unclean. EQUIPMENT FOOD-CONTACT SURFACES and UTENSILS shall be clean to sight and touch. Cut tomatoes (45 degrees F), cut onions (45 degrees F), and sliced cheese (43 degrees F) in the prep cooler in the kitchen area and milk (42 degrees F) and chicken (42 degrees F) in the walk in cooler are out of safe temperature range. Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperature of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermometer, to limit bacterial growth.
■ Q’S COOL CUPS mobile, 9404 Highway 270, White Hall. Date of follow-up inspection April 30. Previous violation corrected.
