POCAHONTAS — Mary Catherine Barré,

age 106, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, surrounded by family. Born to Bartha and Rosa (Weisenbach) Baltz on January 17, 1917, in Pocahontas, Ark. She was the eldest of twelve children.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Vitus Sebastian Barré; two sons, Dr. Vitus S. Barré and Henry Bart Barré, one daughter, Carol Susan Kremers; one granddaugh­ter, Aggie Barnes Summers and one great grandson, Noah Sebastian Harris. Also, seven brothers, James, Robert, Tom, Ray, Curt, Fintan and Lucian Baltz; two sisters, Helen Hunter and Frances Steimel.

She leaves behind two sons, Thomas Leo Barré of Current View, Mo. and William Gregory (Sylvia) Barré of Pocahontas; one daughter, Mary Margaret (Chuck) Barnes of Pocahontas, Ark.; and numerous grand and great-grandchild­ren.

Catherine was a communican­t of St. Paul Catholic Church.

In the 50’s, she and Vitus moved to Little Rock where he was in constructi­on and home building. There they were members of Holy Souls Parish. They later returned home to Pocahontas.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 9-10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by a rosary at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. with Father Stephen Elser presiding. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. All arrangemen­ts are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve as pallbearer­s will be Paul Barré, Michael Barré, Brett Barré, Joe Ed Kremers, Kevin Couch, David Minor.

The family asks that donations be made to the St. Paul School Charitable Trust Fund. All arrangemen­ts are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
