Kathern “Kay” D. (Sann) Shurtz

Kathern “Kay” D. (Sann) Shurtz, died the evening of December 28 at Sage Bluff Health Center. Kay was born on August 12, 1922 in Pine Bluff, Ark., she was a daughter of the late Mike and Genia (Segars) Sann. Kay was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Fort Wayne Country Club. Kay is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. (Roger) Hultquist; and son, A. Michael Shurtz; grandchild­ren, Kerry Hultquist, Grant (Deanna) Shurtz and Madison (Ryder) Harman; and great-grandchild­ren, Hayden and Marin Shurtz, Lily and Isabella Hultquist (Keebler), and Kay Harman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Shurtz. A private graveside service will be held at Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Irene Wooley

Irene Wooley, age 73, of Woodlawn went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021. She was born February 11, 1947 in Pine Bluff to the late Harvey Allen Wilson, Sr. and Patsy Brown Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Shepherd and her brother, Harvey Allen Wilson, Jr. Mrs. Wooley was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and a charter member and founder of the Woodlawn Fire Department. She had a love for people and her community which led her to become known as “The Heart of Woodlawn”. She was an avid supporter of the Woodlawn Bears and Woodlawn Community, she helped start the football team by raising money to help the team get uniforms and equipment, working the concession stand out of the back of her pickup truck. She was Master Gardener and well known for her cooking at numerous deer camps and at the Woodlawn School. She will always be remembered for her love of people and that she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of over 55 years Lynn Wooley, her daughters, Renee Williams and her husband Keith of Hot Springs; Tonda Shaw and her husband Lynn of Maumelle; son, Kevin Wooley and his wife Kayla of Vilonia; and daughter, Salina Brockman and husband Greg of Fayettevil­le; one brother, Allen Dale Wilson and his wife Barbara of Rison; grandchild­ren, Emmalee Ronsse and her husband Nick, Sarah Shaw, Tanner Williams, Travis Shaw, Meghan Wooley, Thad Williams, great-grandchild­ren Danika and Makenna Ronsse and numerous nieces, nephews and family who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Bro. Charles Woolley officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Woodlawn.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation be made in Irene’s honor to the Friendship Cemetery Associatio­n, 610 Friendship Cemetery Road, Rison, Ark., 71665.
