CALLIE RENSHAW BAPTIST PREP

-

Academics came first for Callie Renshaw.

Renshaw played volleyball and soccer at Baptist Prep, a Little

Rock private school. She posted a 4.15

GPA and a

30 on the

ACT, which helped her get accepted into Baylor University in

Waco, Texas.

The soccer field and volleyball court were places where Renshaw played, but her work in the classroom was what mattered most.

“Academics were really important for me,” Renshaw said. “I’d come straight home from volleyball and soccer practice to do homework. It was important for me to do my best.”

Renshaw moved to Baptist Prep as a freshman after attending North Little Rock Middle School. She said the switch from North Little Rock to Baptist Prep helped her not only academically but also athletically.

“It was a lot of great memories in volleyball,” she said. “I made a lot of relationships in volleyball. We were a lot closer. We were lot more like a family.”

Renshaw said her favorite subject was AP History, but she also enjoyed AP British Literature and AP Literature.

In British Literature, Renshaw recalled reading “Wuthering Heights”, a novel by Emily Bronte. The book focused on the relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, which interested Renshaw.

“It was a lot different than what I was used to reading,” said Renshaw.

Renshaw plans to major in biology pre-med, and she’s thinking about becoming a pediatrician.

Her goals at Baylor are similar to those at Baptist Prep.

“I want to do as well as I did academically at Baptist Prep,” she said. “I’m not set on being a pediatrician just yet, but I want to have a job that I like working at every day.”
