JAMES BRITTON “SEDWICK” WEHUNT,

94, passed away on May 18, 2020.

He was born in Kinta, Oklahoma on December 16, 1925, but he called Van Buren, Arkansas home.

He moved to Van Buren when he was 14 and graduated from Van Buren High school in 1944. He went to work on Missouri Pacific Railroad and retired, due to the merger, from Union Pacific, as a machinist, with over 44 years of service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ima Wehunt; two brothers, Bill and an infant brother. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Hazel; one son, James (Connie) of Cabot, Arkansas; two daughters, Beatrice (Tony) Sharpton of Copan, Oklahoma, Linda Wehunt of North Little Rock; one sister, Ethel Mickle of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; six children he called adopted grandchild­ren, Nathan Harvey, Nicholas Harvey, Cassidy Ely, Ryan Ely, Chloe Tatum and Callie Tatum; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was a faithful member, until his illness, and a deacon of Faith Baptist Church, a member of Big Rock Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rites, a former Boy Scout leader and a 4H Tractor Pull Champion.

If you prefer in lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted to Boys Town, P.O. Box 6000, Boy Town Nebraska, 68010, St. Jude’s Children Hospital; Faith for the Future or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 6-8 P.M., at Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 21, 2020, 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with burial to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Online Obituary: www.rollerfune­ralhomes.com/owens.
