SALINE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM

The library isn’t just for kids anymore. The Saline County Library System, which has locations in Benton and Bryant, offers a variety of adult-education opportunities to the community. The library has a language class for those who speak English as a second language, taught by Laura Erickson, a certified English to Speakers of Other Languages teacher. The course, which is open to all members of the community, meets at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Benton branch. “We want to offer stuff for those who might not be speaking English as a first language,” said Jordan Reynolds, marketing coordinator. “They might not be able to pay for classes like this, and we offer them for free.” On June 18, the library will host a Medicare educational seminar. The first class will be at 10 a.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton, and the second class will be 1 p.m. at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant. The classes will be taught by Suzanne McCarty, a senior-benefits product specialist. She will offer Medicare information and assistance. For more information, visit salinecountylibrary.org.
