Candidate filings conclude in Sherwood, Jacksonvil­le.

Jacksonvil­le Mayor Gary Fletcher will face three opponents in the Nov. 6 general election as filing for elected municipal positions in Jacksonvil­le and Sherwood closed Monday.

Sherwood Mayor Virginia Hillman Young filed for re-election and will be unopposed.

Candidate filings for municipal positions in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle, Cammack Village and Wrightsvil­le will be July 27-Aug. 17. Candidate filings in Sherwood and Jacksonvil­le began May 2 and ended at noon Monday.

Debra Fulton, 49; state Rep. Bob Johnson, 64; and Patrick Thomas, 58, all filed to run against Fletcher, 63. Fletcher has been Jacksonvil­le’s mayor since winning a special election in 2009. The Jacksonvil­le mayoral position pays $85,670 annually for a four-year term.

Jacksonvil­le City Attorney Robert Bamburg, 57, will also have an opponent in Stephanie Friedman, 32. The city attorney’s job pays $102,380 annually for a fouryear term.

Three of Jacksonvil­le’s five Position One ward seats on the City Council will be contested. Council members serve four-year terms and receive $7,089 annually.

Ward 1 Council Member Kenny Elliott, 65, will run for re-election against Jeff Elmore, 47, and Jody L. Urquhart, 45. Ward 2 Council Member Kevin McCleary, 53, has two opponents in C. Rolanda Robinson, 45, and Gary Sipes, 60. Ward 5 Council Member Tara Smith, 44, will vie for re-election against John A. Donnelly, 79, and Ratchell Richter, 44.

Ward 3 Council Member Reedie Ray, 77, and Ward 4 Council Member Mike Traylor, 55, aren’t challenged in their bids to remain on the Jacksonvil­le City Council. City Clerk/Treasurer Susan Davitt, 58, is also unopposed. Her four-year term pays $51,163 annually.

Young, 54, has been Sherwood’s mayor since winning a special election in 2007. The four-year mayoral term pays $94,805 yearly.

Sherwood City Attorney Steve Cobb, 60, filed for re-election and will be up against Chris Oswald, 59. The city attorney’s four-year term pays $74,560 annually.

Two Sherwood City Council incumbents in Position One seats will face challenger­s. Ward One Council Member Kenneth Keplinger, 59, drew opposition for April Ford Broderick, 37. Ward 2 Council Member Mary Jo Heye, 51, will run against Shelby Thomas, 46. Council members receive $7,567 per year and are elected to fouryear terms.

Sherwood Ward 3 Council Member Beverly Williams, 68, and Ward 4 Council Member Timothy McMinn, 71, are unopposed for re-election. City Clerk/Treasurer Angela Nicholson, 46, is also unopposed for another four-year term that pays $69,804 annually.
