Concert Series announces season performanc­es

BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe Concert Series, sponsored by Centennial Bank, has announced several concerts for the 20162017 series. All performanc­es will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Owen Center Auditorium.

The Afrique Aya Dance Co. will be in concert Nov. 10. Afrique Aya is a group of dancers and drummers dedicated to sharing the music and culture of West Africa. Inspired by rhythms and rituals from Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Afrique Aya celebrates the synergy of nature, spirit, movement and percussion.

The Suzie Glaze New Folk Ensemble will perform March 16. The ensemble includes award-winning vocalist Susie Glaze, mandolinis­t Steve Rankin, fiddler Mark Indictor and bassist Fred Sanders. The group is a folk Americana fusion ensemble, presenting eclectic blends of mountain folk and new-grassy and Celticinsp­ired originals, all with the voice of Susie Glaze.

Presidio Brass will bring their talent to the ASU-Beebe stage on April 18. Since forming in 2006, the group has rocketed to success as the face of a bold new generation in brass entertainm­ent. By combining a brass quintet, piano and percussion instrument­s with fresh, original arrangemen­ts, their unique sound has become a trademark for the ensemble from San Diego, captivatin­g audiences the world over.

Seating for the concerts is on a first-come, first-served basis. The theater will open 30 minutes prior to curtain call. Tickets will be on sale one hour before showtime at the door.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors, students, military personnel and educators.
