Was sparkling success

-

With congratulations and gratitude for the work of Executive Director Courtney Pledger, Operation Manager Megan Baker, and staff, board of directors, team leaders, the scores of volunteers and the many sponsors, the 25th anniversary of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival achieved the level of professionalism and worldwide prominence that was only a dream 25 years ago. With documentarians and special guests from around the world, including England, Russia, Finland and the Ukraine, and celebrities from around the U.S., Hot Springs, Ark., has again made its mark on the map.

In addition to the accomplished and award-winning filmmakers and other notables, this year’s anniversary celebration brought together founders, friends and volunteers, including Bill Asti, Lorraine Benini, Benini, Suzanne Tucker and many others representing all 25 years of the festival … many lifetime friends … to enjoy memories and feel proud of the success achieved by those, including Susan Altrui and Courtney Pledger, who picked up the direction and leadership of this complex project a few years ago.

The generosity of sponsors who provided venues, food, beverages and warm hospitality is amazing. Thanks also to the Democrat-Gazette and other publications that provided coverage of documentaries and special events, and to the many filmgoers who filled the theaters. What a wonderful festival this is and what wonderful talent we have to make an event like this a major success. I’m feeling proud of all involved. MARLYS MOODIE-DODSON
