SUN BELT CONFERENCE
Game of the week
Louisiana-Lafayette at Appalachian State: With back-to-back losses to South Alabama and New Mexico State, Louisiana-Lafayette finds themselves with their season on the brink as they head to Boone, N.C., to take on Appalachian State. A win by the Mountaineers would tie them atop the conference with a loss by Arkansas State, or cement them in second place in the conference with a Red Wolves win and a Georgia Southern loss, while also ending the bowl hopes of the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Around the Sun Belt
South Alabama at Georgia Southern: With two games left to win one for bowl eligibility, South Alabama hits the road to take on Georgia Southern. The Eagles hope to keep pace with Appalachian State in the race for second place in the conference. A loss would cement the Eagles in third place as the Mountaineers hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Arkansas State at New Mexico State: After starting the season 0-7, New Mexico State has found a rhythm and won three straight. They head home after back-to-back road wins to take on an Arkansas State team who can clinch the conference championship with a win. The Red Wolves likely only need to win one of their last two games as they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Appalachian State, who also holds the tiebreaker over Georgia Southern.
Texas State at Idaho: After snapping a three-game losing streak last week with a win over Louisiana-Monroe, Texas State hopes to make it a winning streak as they head to Idaho. Meanwhile, the Vandals hope to put a stop to a four-game losing streak and end the season with their fourth win of the season.
