Talent contest benefit

Sisters Living With Alopecia Inc. will put on “Arkansas’ Best Talent Contest” at 5 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium at Arkansas Baptist College, 1600 Bishop St., Little Rock. Tribute to Slim

Leo Castleberr­y, a longtime country and gospel musician and now a Hot Springs-based booking agent, will air a radio tribute to the late Slim Whitman at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday on station KMTL-AM, 760.

Crystal festival

Country band Diamond Rio will be the headline act at 8 p.m. Saturday, capping off the first weekend of the inaugural Crystal Music Festival, Board Camp Campground and Crystal Mine, Board Camp, 110 Hickory Ridge (Polk County Road 62), near Mena.

The Marshall Tucker Band will headline the second-weekend rock festival July 27.

This weekend’s schedule (gates open 7 a.m. each day, crystal digging 8 a.m.-5 p.m., entertainm­ent starts at 11 a.m.):

Friday — 8 p.m. headliner: Deidre Thornell. All-day gate admission: $15.

Saturday — 8 p.m.: Diamond Rio. All-day admission $45 in advance online, $55 at the gate.

Sunday — Entertainm­ent 11 a.m.-5 p.m., $10. Richie Owens and 6 Mile Creek will headline July 26 ($15), with the Marshall Tucker Band taking the stage at 8 p.m. July 27 ($45 in advance online, $55 at the gate).
