Clinton School seeks nominees for student service award
The University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service is accepting applications for the 2011-12 Daniel Cayce Award, which is given annually to an Arkansas high school student who best demonstrates selfless volunteerism on behalf of his community.
The Clinton School is encouraging Arkansas high school juniors and seniors who have been involved in community service projects to apply for the award. The winner will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
The Daniel Cayce Award was established in 2005. It is named after inaugural recipient Daniel Cayce of Bearden. Cayce worked for 14 years helping needy families.
Brady Hogg from Poyen High School was last year’s winner.
Applicants for the award should submit a completed form, a summary of their community service activities and an essay of no more than 500 words on one of the provided topics.
Students may also send letters of recommendation, newspaper articles or any other material that would help the committee make its decision.
The deadline for applications is May 7. Finalists will be invited to a ceremony at the Clinton School on May 20.
