2 people killed in separate AV tra c crashes

PALMDALE — Two people were killed in separate traffic collisions in Palmdale and Lancaster in recent days.

One person was killed in Palmdale a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning, Palmdale Sheriff Station officials reported.

Deputies responded at approximat­ely 9:50 a.m. to the collision on 30th Street East and Columbia Way (Avenue M).

Based on the preliminar­y investigat­ion, a 2020 Honda Civic was westbound on Columbia Way, when a 2008 Ford Mustang was making a left turn from eastbound Columbia Way onto 30th Street East and the two vehicles collided in the intersecti­on.

The passenger of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigat­ion is ongoing. Anyone with informatio­n regarding this incident is asked to call Palmdale Sheriff Station’s Traffic Department at 661-272-2400.

On Wednesday, a woman driving an SUV was killed in a collision with a big rig in Lancaster.

The collision occurred at about 3:15 a.m. at Avenue H and 10th Street West, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials reported.

The woman was driving a Ford Expedition north on 10th Street West and reportedly did not stop at a red light at the Avenue H intersecti­on.

The semi truck and trailer, eastbound on Avenue H, went through the intersecti­on and collided into the passenger side of the Ford, sheriff’s officials reported.

Informatio­n was not immediatel­y available on the identity of the woman, who died at the scene.

It is unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
