Christian women’s group schedules Valentine’s Day presentati­on

LANCASTER — David Hughes, a former internatio­nal banker, real estate investor and business owner, will speak to AV Magnificat, a ministry for Catholic women, at its “Valentine’s!” meeting from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the John P. Eliopulos Hellenic Center, 43404 30th St. West.

Hughes will discuss his world travels and finding the gift of life in unexpected places. Tickets cost $22. Reservatio­n deadline is Feb. 6. Men are invited.

40 Days for Life welcomes help from volunteers

LANCASTER — Volunteers are sought to join other Christians and pro-life advocates to participat­e in Antelope Valley 40 Days for Life — 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion — between Feb. 14 and March 24.

Participan­ts will stand and peacefully pray during the 40day vigil in the public right-of-way outside of FPA Women’s Health Clinic, 43845 10th St. West, Suite 1E, Lancaster; and Planned Parenthood, 533 East Palmdale Blvd., Suite 533-A1.

Volunteer chaplains wanted at Antelope Valley Medical Center

LANCASTER — Antelope Valley Medical Center is looking for volunteer chaplains to address patients’ spiritual needs or to serve through intercesso­ry prayer Monday through Friday.

The center welcomes volunteers who demonstrat­e a genuine interest in providing spiritual support for their neighbors in an interfaith healthcare setting.

LANCASTER — First Church of Christ, Scientist, 44802 Fern Ave., maintains a reading room — a bookstore and a library — at the east entrance that is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

A wide selection of Christian material, including Bibles and other books, CDs, weekly and monthly magazines, is available in various translatio­ns and for all ages. These are available for research, study and purchase.

All Christian Science churches maintain a reading room at or near their church.
