SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Stop by the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society to meet

Roxanne. She is a 65-pound, 4-year-old mixed-breed dog who came to the shelter when her guardian could no longer care for her. She is a lovely girl who loves her daily walks and playtime, and is ready to join a new family.

Kasha is a beautiful 2-year-old domestic short-haired kitty who found her way to the animal shelter looking for a forever home. She is super sweet, loves to be brushed and loves attention.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Follow the shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

All shelter facilities will close at 1 p.m. on December 24 and will be closed to the public on Christmas Day.

To inquire about pets up for adoption, call the shelter at 9834309 ext. 1610. They can also be viewed online at: sfhumanesociety. org.

There is still time for a Christmas Eve delivery of pets from Santa Claus and some of his helpers from the shelter. Potential adopters are welcome to pre-adopt the animals and the shelter will hold them until the Christmas Eve delivery. The adoptions must take place by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23; there is no cost for the delivery.

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Española Humane’s Cat Corral at Santa Fe’s Sunrise Springs Spa Resort, 242 Los Pinos Rd. south of town, has been so successful that is has grown a Puppy Patch. The Puppy Patch is open for public adoptions from 1-4 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday-Sunday, and is where puppies like Luna are looking for their fur-ever homes.

Luna is fresh from foster care and, at 9 weeks old, she’s already almost housetrained, knows how to sit, and she has been trained with her littermate Ariel to sit and wait patiently and politely for her dinner. She’s a smart cookie. Luna is spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, and will go home with six months of heartworm prevention. Celebrate the new Puppy Patch and meet a new crop of puppies looking for their happily ever after.

Also meet Bobo Brazil, wrestling champion of the WWK (Worldwide Wrestling Kittens). Bobo Brazil is a fun-loving kitten who makes new friends easily. He loves to chase and wrestle (hence his name) and he’s a brave little guy, the first to explore and discover new places. But when he is played out, he’s also a snuggling champion, seeking a warm lap for purring and napping. Bobo is available for adoption from the shelter’s Cat Corral. Bring him home and you’ll have the most entertaining holiday yet.

The shelter is still looking for short-term foster homes for many of its dogs and puppies while the shelter is closed for the Christmas Holiday. Contact Mattie Allen at the shelter if you can foster a dog or puppy, or two, for the season. She can be reached by email at mattie@ espanolahumane.org.

Pets can be adopted daily from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Española Humane, 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. 505-753-8662. To see more adoptable pets, log on to www.espanolahumane.org or www. petango.com. The shelter will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday.
