Patricia Ann Jones Heggem, born in Thoreau,

NM on July 2, 1928, passed away on November 13, 2018 at age 90. She was the only living sibling of seven children born to Homer C. Jones and Marguerite (Maxwell) Jones. Pat’s husband of 65 years, Paul E. Heggem, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Ronald P. Heggem and wife, Janice; daughter, Lori Heggem Horn and husband, Terry; granddaughter, Kyle Reagin and husband, Neil; children, Kendyl and Briggs, of Albuquerque; grandson, Bradford Heggem and wife, Cicely; children Austin, Alyssa, and Jace of Tulsa, OK; grandson, Ryan Horn of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter, Kelly Horn of Park City, UT; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat moved from Thoreau to Albuquerque to attend UNM where she pledged Alpha Delta Pi, was elected Homecoming Queen and met her husband, Paul. After her graduation and wedding in 1949, she was hired as the PE teacher for the opening year of Highland High School. With the birth of her children, her role became wife and mother. Pat’s boundless energy led her to enjoy life in many arenas such as Junior League, PTA, garden and bridge clubs, Braille transcription, poll worker, Brownie Leader, Boy Scouts, neighborhood advocate, political activist, the Presbyterian church and Lobo Boosters. Her interests also included continuing education, sewing, baking, tennis, dancing, singing and genealogy. She truly enjoyed being a wife, mother and faithful friend.

Pat ultimately returned to the work world as the first PE teacher for Sandia School for Girls (now Sandia Prep). In the three years that followed, she earned her Library Certification at UNM, and became the school’s librarian for twenty-one years. Her interest in genealogy flourished, and she cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. Pat will be greatly missed by her family and those whose hearts and minds she touched.

The family wishes to thank everyone at Marler Manor and Dr. Suzanne Pinon for their wonderful and gentle care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 2:00 p. m. in the FRENCH – Wyoming Reception Center. Please visit our online guestbook for Patricia at www.FrenchFunerals.com
