On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 29th, 2017, under the warm

New Mexico afternoon sun, Leon J. Wugofski made his journey to the other side surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.

Born on August 25th, 1921 in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia to Leo Wugofski and Mary Kubis. Leon lived for an incredible and full ninety-five years of life. He attended and graduated with the highest honors from LaSalle College in 1943. A brilliant chemist, Leon served in the Chemical Warfare Division of the United States Army in Europe during World War II. A handsome young man in uniform, he won the heart of a young French bride and brought her home with him to create what would become his greatest life treasure- his family.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Monique LeDuc Wugofski; and his eldest daughter, Patricia Wugofski Mayfield. He is survived and will be sorely missed by his children, Barbara Wugofski O’Neill of Tijeras, NM, Lee Wugofski and his wife, Stephanie Forbes of Pinole, CA; also by his grandchild­ren, Patricia (Trish) Payne, Korigan Payne, Janine O’Neill Loffelmach­er, Luke Loffelmach­er, Jacqueline O’Neill, Nick Wugofski; and by one great-grandchild, Bastian Payne. Leon was a beloved father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, 19 Camino Del Santa Nino, Tijeras, NM.
