Olhoffer, Lee Joseph

-

Lee Joseph Olhoffer passed away peacefully in his sleep and went home to be with the Lord Tuesday March 29th, 2017 after a long illness. Born Feb 24th 1940 in Pasadena California, he moved to Costa Mesa where he was a postman for 32 years. Many a time he would proudly show us his scars of where he had been bitten by a dog. He retired in 1995 and moved to Rio Rancho NM with his wife Rita until his passing.

Lee was active in his community leaving behind many friends at the Meadow Lark Senior Center. He was an avid collector of sea shells. He loved stamp collecting. One thing Lee had perfected was making crosses out of Cholla cactus. They were beautiful with pieces of turquois and coral in them. His eyesight started failing while making these crosses..He gave one to a granddaughter and when she got back home she called and asked why there was a peanut glued to it. She kept it the way it was, she said it was special. Lee loved nature, trees, birds and the ocean. He loved people and could talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. But most of all he loved his family. He got more than he bargained for with so many of us. But I think that was when he was happiest. He never had a harsh word to say about anyone and was the finest example of a Christian man.

He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

He Leaves behind his beloved wife Rita Olhoffer; brothers, Bill Olhoffer andd wife, Judy of CA, Dick Olhoffer and wife, Sue of CA; 11 children, Dr. Ingrid Olhoffer-Carucci and husband Dr. John Carucci and granddaughter Isabella of NY, NY, Erik Olhoffer and fiance Kim of Auburn CA, Loretta L Curtis and husband Dennis, Laverne Teupell, Ronald Lente, Brenda Ziemann and husband Dr Ron Ziemann, all of Rio Rancho, Kevin Lente, Pastor Terry Lente and wife Pastor Marcia Lente of Albq, David Lente, Yvonne Hernandez and husband Gene of Houston TX, Lisa Jernigan of Portland OR; also many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; too numerous to mention…and many in-laws & outlaws…

Celebration of life will be held Sat. April 8th, 2017, 10 am at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave SE RR across from Intel on Hwy 528
