Irvin L. Lowder passed peacefully at his home on March 23, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the age of 91.

Born on June 13, 1925 in Tribune, KS, the oldest of seven children, to Buel and Eunice Hoopes Lowder. He bravely served in the US Marine Corps during WWII, 16th anti-aircraft division, in Tinian, Saipan, and Okinawa.

Upon his return, he married Edna Brown and were married for 71 years. They raised five children: Sharin Perry, Janis Lowder, Dennis Lowder (Barbara), Pam Harle (Bryan), Dean Lowder; grandchild­ren: Glen Scarms, Denise Bueno, Elizabeth Gazolas, Joe Jimenez, Steven Lowder, Saundra Sur, Rikki Lowder; great grandchild­ren: Huck, Matthias, Shawn, Reina, Chris, Sarah, Lauren. He is also survived by his sisters Donna Fae Mitchell, Claudine Baker, and Venita Baker.

Irvin was a truck driver for most of his life, a member of the Teamsters, and retired from ABF after 33 years. He competed in several 18-wheeler truck driver skills rodeos and took top honors in 1955. He was active in the Moose Lodge and even held the position of Governor for several years.

You could catch him on any Sunday afternoon watching the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies as they were his favorite teams.

Irvin’s love for dogs was evident, always having a faithful companion by his side throughout his life.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:00 a. m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM with a reception immediatel­y following. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. Pallbearer­s will be: Joe Jimenez, Steven Lowder, Bryan Harle, John Gazolas.
