Local VA provides first-class care

-

RE: “VA hospital in ABQ ranked in bottom 10,” Dec. 14.

I just wanted to comment on the care I have received from the Albuquerque VA hospital and the Northwest Metro Clinic in Rio Rancho.

I have been using the VA as my primary health care provider for over 20 years. During this time, I have been treated for high blood pressure, prostate cancer, diabetes, full knee replacement, Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), Agent Orange exposure, ER visit for nearly severed toe, dental care and bariatric surgery.

The only problem I have had with the VA is the time it took for me to be approved for the bariatric surgery. All other treatments and evaluations have been first class.

I have never been refused an appointment when I requested to see a doctor. The pharmacy has done an outstanding job providing my medications in a timely manner. The Coumadin clinic has tracked my International Normalized Ratio and prescribed medication for my AFib in a very professional manner.

The Northwest Metro Clinic is absolutely top notch. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted and your needs are addressed.

My primary care physician and his staff are the best at what they do. The Dental Clinic has always treated me as a valued patient and veteran; my dentist and his staff have always treated me well.

The staff of the Coumadin Clinic and blood draw areas are professional and courteous, and at the top of their field.

In my opinion, the Raymond G. Murphy VA Hospital and clinic should be placed in the top 10 of the best. RUSSELL A. ROE
