Horcasitas, Ray T.

Ray T. (Guero/Mr. H.) Horcasitas passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Ray touched many lives as a high school teacher in Roy, Vaughn, and Los Lunas, New Mexico and as an instructor at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (TVI). He said that he was born to teach, he loved being in the classroom, and he was loved by his students. Ray was especially proud of his military service in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Juan Horcasitas and Carolina Trujillo Horcasitas, sister, Rita Trujillo and brother, Juan "Cocon" Horcasitas, beloved brother-in-law and friend Tony Aguilar Jr.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosa (Aguilar) Horcasitas, his children, Gary Ford and wife, Margie; Melissa Marcelli and husband, John; Michael Horcasitas and wife, Noel; grandchildren, Eric, Adrianne, and Chryssa Ford, Nikki, Christian and Michael Marcelli, Sean and Alex Horcasitas; nieces, Gloria Silva and husband, Phil, Elizabeth Trujillo, Anna Mae Gutierrez and husband, Stanley; and nephews, John and James Trujillo; beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Emily and Ken Brudos, Anna and Isabro Martinez, Julie and John Aragon, David and Vickie Aguilar, and Esther Aguilar. Honorary Pallbearers: all of Ray’s many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren (ahijados), as well as the graduating classes of Vaughn High School from the years 1958 through 1968.

Ray’s family wishes to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice. A Rosary will be recited Monday, September 26, 2016 at San Ysidro Catholic Church,5015 Corrales Road, Corrales, NM, at 9:30AM. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the Rosary at 10:00AM, Father Michael DePalma, celebrant.
