Devils fire Ruff, promote Green
The New Jersey Devils fired coach Lindy Ruff and named assistant Travis Green interim coach. General manager Tom Fitzgerald made the surprising move with less than 30 games left in the NHL season. The Devils have lost five of seven to fall further out of playoff contention.
Ruff, 64, was in his fourth season with the team. The Devils gave Ruff a multiyear extension before the start of the season. All of his other assistants will remain in place.
Wings’ Larkin out two weeks
DETROIT — Red Wings captain and leading scorer Dylan Larkin will miss roughly two weeks because of a lower-body injury.
The injury occurred in the team’s loss to Florida over the weekend.
Preds give Novak extension
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Predators extended pending free agent forward Tommy Novak, re-signing him to a three-year contract worth $10.5 million. He’ll count $3.5 million against the salary cap through 2027.
Kuznetsov likely to Hershey
