NENYPGA director Doug Evans dies at 53

Doug Evans, tournament director and assistant executive director of the Northeaste­rn New York PGA, died suddenly Friday afternoon while administer­ing an event at Schenectad­y Municipal Golf

Course. He was 53.

Evans, who had been with the section since January 2003, was running a Playing Ability Test at the course when he suffered an apparent heart attack. Course officials tried to revive him and he was taken to nearby Ellis Hospital but he could not be revived.
