Tanglewood announces 1st October-june slate of events

Schedule includes music-food combos, concerts, talks

Tanglewood has announced its inaugural slate of fall, winter and spring programmin­g, releasing a series of events and activities to be held at its new year-round Linde Center for Music and Learning.

Included in the lineup are concerts, talks, “TASTE” events linking music and food, “Open Forum” multidisci­plinary programs, collaborat­ions with the Martha Graham Dance Company and two immersion weekends — one focused on historic artists’ homes in the Berkshires, the other a series of fiddle workshops for amateur musicians.

Listed below is October to June programmin­g for the Tanglewood Learning Institute, which opened this summer inside the Linde Center at the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Lenox, Mass. (The Center will also host events and concerts as a rental space.)

Additional activities include film screenings presented in conjunctio­n with the Berkshire Internatio­nal Film Festival; assorted 10 a.m. Saturday art classes in the fall and spring; and “Art Night Out” drop-in Fridays at 7 p.m. Dec. 13, Feb. 7 and April 13.

■ March 13-15, 2020: “Fiddle Weekend,” featuring workshops in Canadian, Scottish and Irish styles led by fiddlers Laurel Martin, Katie Mcnally and the BSO’S Bonnie Bewick.

■ May 15-17: “Creative Placemakin­g at Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios,” presented in collaborat­ion with Chester wood, the Stockbridg­e summer home of sculptor Daniel Chester.

■ Friday, Feb. 21: “The Culture of Russia,” featuring conductor and pianist I gnat Solzhenits­yn, dinner and presentati­on of music and poetry featured in the writings of Solzhenits­yn’ s father, Alexander.

■ Thursday, May 28: “Around the World,” featuring performanc­es by members of the Massachuse­tts Cultural Council’s Folk Arts and Heritage program.
