“I finally lost weight with a diet plan delivered to my door”

-

SUSIE EDWARDS, 61, IS MARRIED TO DAVID AND IS A TEACHER. SHE HAS FOUR GROWN-UP CHILDREN AND LIVES IN BERKSHIRE.

When my eldest son announced his engagement last year I was over the moon, but thinking about the wedding photographs filled me with dread. At 5ft 3in and 14st 12lb, I was embarrassed about my size. Over the years, I’d tried cutting out carbs, calorie counting and even lost 3st following a high-protein diet, only to put it all back on again.

When I heard about Jane Plan, the idea of portion-controlled meals delivered to my door seemed simple and offered less room for temptation. Its online menu looked delicious – it was normal food, just less of it. But opening my first delivery, I picked out a packet of porridge for breakfast and my heart sank – it was tiny!

I was surprised, though, to make it to lunchtime without so much as a tummy rumble. After work, heating up a portion of chilli, which was ready to eat in four minutes, stopped me reaching for unhealthy snacks. Already, it was more effective than any other diet I’d tried.

Gradually I started to notice my jawline looking more defined. After a month, I’d lost 12lb and my friends at work started to notice my weight loss. That was a great motivation to keep sticking to the plan. Cooking my family a roast and then joining them with a separate Jane Plan meal took a lot of willpower, but I wanted to keep going.

Out shopping for a dress to wear on the big day earlier this year, I tried on a size 10, mint green Ted Baker dress – it felt amazing when it actually fit!

Having lost 5st, I finally have a photo on my mantelpiece I don’t want to hide. After ten months of sticking to Jane Plan, I’m starting to wean myself off. But I’ll be sticking to the portion control that it’s taught me, because it has not only transformed my approach to food but my self-confidence too.
