A MAN who failed to attend a rehabilitation activity organised for him has been given a suspended jail sentence.
Matthew Monger, 37 and from Drewett Close in Shinfield, admitted failing to turn up for the events organised on December 7 last year, January 30 and February 8 this year.
At a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on March 9, Monger was given a 10-week sentence suspended for 24 months and ordered to continue with a drug rehabilitation course.
He was originally found guilty of six shoplifting offences that took place between June 9, 2016 and October 17, 2016.
A MAN who assaulted a woman while children watched has been sent to prison for four weeks.
Luke Frederick White, 25 and from Hearn Road in Woodley, received the sentence at a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on March 9.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman and also a man at an address in St Giles Close, Reading between February 10 and 20 this year.
The court sent him down because they felt the offence was so serious, there were a number of offences, they were carried out in the presence of children and White had a previous record of a similar nature.
Under the terms of the ruling, White is not to contact this victim except via his solicitor or via social services in relation to child contact.
He is not to go to St Giles Close or Wilson Road, both in Reading, before March 8, 2019. White was also ordered to pay £310 costs and pay £115 to victim services.
A MAN who pleads not guilty to driving while disqualified will appear before Reading Magistrates Court on May 14.
Scott Philip Stiller, 29 and from Budges Road, Wokingham, is alleged to have been stopped by police on January 1 while driving a car along Molly Millars Lane, Wokingham. He denies charges of driving while disqualified and without insurance.
At an initial hearing at
Slough Magistrates Court on March 26, he was remanded on unconditional bail.
A MAN who was caught stealing and begging has been committed to Reading Crown Court for sentencing.
Michael Keiron Shale Hale Boxall, 42 and in HMP Bullingdon, appeared at Slough Magistrates Court on March 29 where he pleaded guilty to the following offences:
On December 31, 2017 stealing alcohol worth £50 from Waitrose in Woodley
On January 31, 2018 he failed to appear at Reading Magistrates Court having been released on bail
Begging for money on January 3, 2018, contravening a court order made on December 4, 2017. These offences took place in Drovers Way, Crockhamwell Road, and Pearson Way in Woodley.

A MAN from Winnersh has pleaded not guilty to two charges
of assault made against him.
On March 29, Hakim Massim Kharbouch, 24 and from Chatfield Avenue, appeared at Reading Magistrates Court where he was remanded on conditional bail until the trial on May 29.
He is accused of beating two men on February 10 this year in Reading, which he denies.
Under the conditions of his bail, he is not to visit Liverpool Road in Reading.
A COMMUNITY order has been made to a man who pleaded guilty to range of charges.
Reading Magistrates Court heard, on March 29, that Brandon Taplin fraudulently used a bank card to attempt to pay for shopping in a Reading branch of Tesco on December 14, 2016.
The 18-year-old from Mitford Close in Earley also received goods belonging to the cardholder, knowing it was stolen.
On December 14, 2016, he used a Nationwide building society card to buy goods from the Chandi Kiosk in Reading and also the town’s Primark store.
On December 19, 2016, he used a Barclaycard belonging to another man in a branch of Aldi in Reading.
He was given 40 hours community service, made to pay compensation of £15, £85 costs and £85 to victim services.
