West Forest Townswomens’s Guild

- LIZ SHILHAM

AFTER a warm welcome from the chairman, members of the West Forest Townswomens’s Guild were introduced to the speaker, Mel Rees, who chatted very humorously about his reflections on various aspects of life and his family. He was highly entertaining and caused much hilarity.

This was followed by the Guild business and the dates of the forthcoming regular monthly activities in which members can participate.

Since the last report several members had been on a planned outing to the Bombay Sapphire Gin distillery which ended in a cocktail sampling session, much enjoyed by all. In addition there had been a harvest supper prepared by the social and fund raising committee which was well attended.

Two members had travelled to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to attend the TG Service of Dedication at which the Princess Royal unveiled the memorial in respect of all who had lost their lives in defence of the country.

Members are now looking forward to the outing to Brick Lane Music Hall this coming weekend. The previous visit a few years ago had been very successful and brought back memories of the old music

hall entertainment with some audience participation.

The next Guild meeting will be on December 11th at which the Bella Canto Trio will perform a selection of their repertoire including many Christmas songs.

We meet on the third Monday of the month ( except for the Christmas meeting) in a Emmbrook Village Hall at 7.15pm.

New members are always welcome. Please ring Liz Shilham on 01189783585 or Terry Stafford on 01189784844 for further information.
