Titans end Rams good run
Taunton Titans 31 Redingensians Rams 21
REDINGENIANS’ six-game winning run was halted at title-chasing Taunton.
Rams have been in scintillating form, but came unstuck after two late tries from the hosts settled a tight contest.
Only four points separated the sides in the top echelons of the table going into the game and it showed as the pair traded blows.
Rams began well, taking the lead through a characteristic drive over the line, scored by Andy Berry after just three minutes.
But Titans regrouped after a poor opening 10 minutes, to level up at 7-7 as Brett Harvey powered through.
The hosts took a 10-7 lead into half-time thanks to a penalty while Redingensians lost Jordan Souter to injury, the first of three enforced changes to come on the afternoon.
Seb Reynolds’ men started the second half well, retaking the lead when winger Jak Rossiter used his pace to score under the posts.
But back came Taunton to go 24-14 ahead before Rams were reduced to 14 men when Olly Foxley was given a yellow card.
Conor Corrigan reduced the arrears at the death, but the home side won 31-21.
“It was a fantastic game of rugby played by two extremely motivated teams,” said head coach Reynolds.
“I can’t fault the boys’ effort and
application on the field, they were brilliant.
“We were unlucky at times, but that’s how big games go and I’m confident we’ll bounce back.”
Redingensians, who sit fourth, host Bury St Edmunds on Saturday (2pm).
