THE final preparations are being made for this weekend’s Wokingham Arts Trail. Now in its seventh year, Wokingham Arts Trail celebrates 30 artists who live and work locally by giving them a platform to showcase their work, as well as providing residents and visitors to the town with a fun and interesting day out.
Taking place over Saturday and Sunday, the trail features 10 venues across the town, ranging from professional galleries to artists’ private studios.
New to the trail for 2017 are InStitches Textiles, who are opening their Sunfield Studios to visitors in New Mill Road. Proprietors Hazel Ryder and Terry Donaldson have been running textile courses for more than 10 years, and set up InStitches in 2013 to inspire more people to get into stitching.
The pair will be holding textile workshops at the studio throughout the weekend, and will be joined by jeweller Dana Kidson and ceramic artist Suzanne Needham.
In the town centre, the Rose Room, in Rose Street, will see three local artists displaying and discussing their work.
Nichola Pitt will be showcasing her beautiful ceramics, Paul Woolley will be exhibiting his popular new prints, and Liz Chaderton will be demonstrating her watercolour techniques.
Other venues along the trail include The Hawthorns Primary School, in Northway, Woosehill; and WADE Day Centre in Reading Road, as well as several private studios along the way.
Wokingham Arts Trail takes place on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 between 10.30am and 5.30pm on both days. Entry is free to all venues. Many of the art works displayed during the trail will be available to buy, and some of the venues will have refreshments available.
