Newmains score global success
Newmains United are one of only 10 clubs to win a global competition run by sports clothing giant Umbro.
The Victoria Park outfit are currently sidelined due to the lower league football suspension imposed by the Scottish Football Association, but the club are celebrating after landing a host of new gear from the renowned football kit manufacturers.
Newmains entered the “Our Game Is Not Just For Pros”competition last year and they were selected along with nine other clubs from as far afield as Chile,
South Africa and Argentina to win from over 150 entrants.
Each of the winning squads will receive the prize of brand new kit, a manager’s coat, balls and a megadeck bag to carry all that gear.
They’ll also star in their very own kit launch later this year.
Announcing the winners on their Twitter account, Umbro said:“When we launched“Our Game Is Not Just For Pros” last year, the world was a very different place. Much has changed since then.
“But our commitment to the grassroots game still remains the same.
“From over 150 submissions, we are pleased to announce our 10 winners. The selection process wasn’t an easy job – the submissions were all brilliant.”
Newmains were the only club in the UK to win. The other winners were: Sparta Fútbol Club (Argentina); Magallanes de Maule (Chile); Sécurité Sociale (France); Kickers Westerwald (Germany); BarCode (Italy); Bohemians Waterford 2A (Ireland); Ballstad UIL (Norway); Molamerica Soccer Club (USA) and Mathaithai FC (South Africa).
