Hallowe’en is just around the corner and children from across Wishaw are looking forward to going out trick or treating.

Whether the kids are making their own costumes, dragging mum and dad around the shops or picking up a bargain online, Hallowe’en business is booming for many retailers.

Indeed figures last year showed the British public spent a whopping £310 million as the popularity of the spooky celebration soars.

The nation’s top five Hallowe’en activities were carving a pumpkin, watching a scary film, dressing up in fancy dress or facepaint, decorating the home or garden and hosting or attending a party or dinner party.

We spoke to children from Netherton Primary School to find out their thoughts on Hallowe’en.

Josh Hamilton said: “I’m going as ‘Jacko’. I really like Hallowe’en.”

Fellow pupil Logan Thomson has decided on a superhero from the Marvel Universe for his costume.

“I’m going to be Iron Man,” he said. “It’s going to be great.”

Becky McManus has chosen one of Disney’s most iconic characters.

She said: “My costume is going to be the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. “I always enjoy Hallowe’en.” Jamie White is another Netherton Primary pupil looking forward to the big day.

He added: “It is always good fun. I’m dressing up as Freddy.”
