THERE WILL BE BLOOD...

Gripping Irish thriller makes welcome return

-

MOTHER of God, it’s Adrian Dunbar so it is, and he’s back for a second run of this twisty Irish crime thriller. The first season followed the Hogan family in the wake of the death of the mother, with the father Jim accused of her murder.

In the end it turned out that Jim (Dunbar) had ended his terminally-ill wife’s life, but it was at her request.

Jim has been away travelling for a year after the trial that saw him lose his medical licence, but now he’s back in the town where everyone knows who he is. And not everyone is pleased to see him.

It’s a dramatic start to the mini-series, which is on every night this week, culminating in a feature-length finale on Friday.

Jim’s daughter Fiona (Grainne Keenan) is driving along a country road in the dead of night, when her car veers off the road and crashes into a canal.

Then we track back over the events that led to the crash, revealing a tangled web of family trauma since Jim’s return.

Fiona is facing the same affliction that her mother had – Motor Neurone Disease. Her husband Paul (Ian Lloyd

Anderson) is struggling to cope.

Meanwhile, Fiona is having secret meetings with someone, but who?

And Jim stumbles across some suspicious activity at the farm where Paul works.

With a lot of awkward tension, rivalry and rage, not to mention the flashes forward of Fiona struggling, trapped in a car underwater, this makes for a tense opener to another gripping tale.
