Gats’ daughter Gabby weds after proposal at Grand Slam
WARREN Gatland’s daughter, Gabby, got married at the weekend after a Grand Slam proposal in Wales last year.
The former Wales rugby boss walked his daughter down the aisle at a beachside ceremony in New Zealand’s summer sunshine, where she married fiancé Sam Stone.
Gabby looked stunning in a floorlength flowing white gown with a veil at the Waihi Beach celebrations, while the bridegroom wore a black suit – along with Warren’s son, Bryn, who was among the groomsmen.
Revealing a snap of the happy couple with waves in the background, Gabby wrote: “If I could live my life over I would find you sooner so that I could love you longer. Mr & Mrs Stone - 19.12.2020”.
Sam wrote on his own page: “Because of you, I laugh a little harder, smile a little bigger, and dare to dream more than I ever imagined. Thank you for choosing me Mrs Stone”.
Bryn, who has signed to join Warren’s Chiefs side, posted a picture of the siblings together on Instagram with the message: “Proud brother moment... so happy for you and Sam and can’t wait to see what’s next for you two. Love you guys”.
After the wedding, the celebrations continued into a second day at the beachside Bay of Plenty location.
Warren, who is leading the British and Irish Lions to tour South Africa in the summer of 2021, was in the UK earlier this year as part of preparations for the tour but returned home in plenty of time to quarantine for his daughter’s big day.
While Wales will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Gatland family – completed by mum Trudi – for Warren’s coaching exploits lasting 12 years, it is also the place where solicitor Gabby got engaged.
Just a day after Wales’ Grand Slam in 2019, Sam led a blindfolded Gabby to Hensol Castle’s lake before getting down on one knee and proposing.
Sharing footage on Instagram, Gabby wrote: “On the 17-03-19 my best friend got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
“No words can describe how happy I am that I get to spend the rest of my life with you Sam. I swear I couldn’t love you more than I do right now, and yet I know I will tomorrow. Here’s to forever babe.”
