At No. 10 to be main man for Wales – Howley

old plus his teammate Anscombe could form a deadly duo on the Test stage if unleashed together.

Evans was at No.10 with Anscombe at full-back for Champions Cup encounters with Lyon and Glasgow Wanderers, but have operated as dual play-makers during some attacks.

“Australia and the Kiwis (New Zealand) have done it (operate with two play-makers) for quite a while and at the end of last year Wales changed and moved the ball quite well,” said Mulvihill.

“I’m hopeful (this autumn) we will see a pretty bright Wales team throwing the ball around a bit more than they used to.

“Gareth is in awesome form at the moment and Jarrod isn’t a safe, conservative type of player.

“He will roll the dice and, going forward, that’s what the Welsh backline need,” maintained Mulvihill.

“We are absolutely delighted with Jarrod and are very proud he going to hopefully get in that match-day 23 to face Scotland.

“He’s a great young kid who works really hard and deserves his chance at the highest level.

“Jarrod has got a bit of a spark and works very hard on his game on and off the field.”

Mulvihill also lavished praise on Anscombe, declaring: “He’s an outstanding professional in the way he approaches the game, the way he reacts and communicates to those around him, including the coaches.”

Northampton pivot Dan Biggar is unavailable for the clash with the Scots as it falls outside World Rugby’s official Test window.

So Evans is likely to be on the bench for the November 3 clash with Scotland at the Principality Stadium with Anscombe starting.

Wales, meanwhile, have made Dan Lydiate available for tomorrow’s Ospreys’ PRO14 clash with Connacht at Bridgend’s Morganstone Brewery Field.

Lydiate is only player the national management have allowed to return to the regional scene ahead of the autumn internationals. He will link back up with the national squad next Monday.
