Terriers favourites for drop

-

HUDDERSFIELD Town are now the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Cardiff City have been written off from day one, with Neil Warnock’s men being the firm favourites to go down even before a ball was kicked in the 2018/19 season.

But following their stunning 4-2 win over Fulham last time out, the Bluebirds climbed out of the relegation zone, with the Cottagers joining Huddersfield and Newcastle United in the bottom three. And having been as short as 1/4 to go down come the end of the season, you can now get odds as good as 9/4 for the Bluebirds to stay up this term.

David Wagner’s Huddersfield are yet to win a game this season, although they are one point ahead of Newcastle who have drawn two and lost seven of their nine Premier League games to date. Cardiff are still second favourites to be relegated back into the Championship, with Fulham being the third and final side tipped for the drop by bookmakers.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “There’s not been too much to cheer about this year for Cardiff fans, although Saturday’s win has given fans and punters a glimmer of hope.

“Unlike fellow strugglers Huddersfield, Cardiff’s manager is seemingly under pressure to turn results around to keep his job.

“The win against Fulham is a massive step in the right direction, although Warnock remains 10/1 to be the next manager sacked compared to Wagner at 25/1.”

It comes after bookies were taking bets on Warnock’s men to fail to win a single game this season following their 2-1 home defeat to Burnley earlier this month.
