APP ofthe WEEK

-

CAMERA+ is one of the pioneers of camera apps for the iPhone – the first version, which has been developed relentlessly since it was first launched, hit the App Store eight years ago.

Eight years is a long time, and iPhone hardware has evolved quite dramatically over those eight years.

And so, I suppose, the time is right for a new version, not just an incremental update. And it’s a smasher.

The big deal about Camera+ is that it was one of the first apps to introduce a one-tap enhance button – in Camera+’s case it’s called Clarity – which can make seemingly mundane images pop with energy.

Camera+ 2 includes all that, but adds a few excellent new features. You can now edit pics right in your photo library, without importing them into the app and then having to export them back.

And the new app will also capture depth data if you have one of the latest Plus iPhones, or the iPhone X. This data allows you to use the depth data to selectively edit different areas of your photos and adjust depth of field after capture.

Obviously, it captures RAW images, offers a good set of filters (and you can pay for more), and allows manual controls.

It’s a complete image capture end editing studio, which might just do everything you will ever want to do to your images.
