Shirley repays her hospitalit­y by throwing accusation­s at her, which Janine shrugs off. Scarlett knows exactly what her mum has been up to. Will she reveal the truth?

No matter what happens, it’s set to be Mick’s last day in Albert Square, but will he leave knowing what Janine is capable of? And will he make a bid to win Linda back?

Elsewhere, Jada drops a bombshell, and Alfie’s latest grand gesture involves dressing up as Santa and abseiling off the Mitchells’ roof in a bid to impress Kat and the boys. It’s less likely to win over Phil, who later makes a surprising discovery about Sam.

Organising a secret wedding is always risky, especially in soapland. So it should come as no surprise to learn that Tyrone’s efforts to surprise Fiz look set to be ruined when she goes AWOL on Christmas morning. She heads off in search of a turkey, but her car breaks down. Will the nuptials go ahead as planned?

Daniel’s desire to propose to Daisy has also been scuppered, but Ken thinks he may be able to help his youngest son. The couple have a falling out and it’s up to Amy to help smooth things over. Tim worries Elaine is getting in too deep with Stephen, whose odd behaviour is also arousing Gail’s suspicions. But a twist of fate saves his neck – again.

Soap fans are getting a surprise present for Christmas - a new Dingle.

However, Cain isn’t particular­ly pleased when the newcomer, Caleb, visits him in prison on Christmas Day. When Caleb reveals how shocked he was to learn that their mother has only recently passed away, it becomes clear that they are brothers - and there’s a huge backstory. Will a flashback to 1991 provide some answers?

Meanwhile, Chas and Paddy agree to a Christmas ceasefire for Eve’s sake, but the atmosphere is still strained at the Woolpack. So, Chas visits her daughter’s grave, taking Faith’s firework with her, only to be approached by a stranger with some shocking news.

As Leyla tucks into a dinner for one, Liam struggles to eat all the food provided by his well-meaning neighbours.
